NC-SARA Board Adopts New Mission Statement

 

At its meeting on May 8-9, 2019 the NC-SARA Board adopted a new mission statement, acknowledging the many changes that have occurred in the SARA landscape since the initial statement was adopted in May, 2014. The new mission statement, which was adopted along with other modifications to the NC-SARA Bylaws, is as follows:

 

AS NEED FOR FLEXIBLE HIGHER EDUCATION GROWS, GROUP CHARGED WITH GROWING ACCESS TO DISTANCE LEARNING ANNOUNCES NEW LEADERSHIP

A career veteran of instructional design and student support will lead national nonprofit tasked with expanding distance education’s reach and quality


BOULDER, CO (May 15, 2019) — At a time when access to quality postsecondary education is increasingly critical, a nonprofit charged with increasing the reach of online and other distance education and strengthening protections for its students has selected a new executive with experience in both quality assurance and effective program design to succeed its retiring founding president.

 

NC-SARA Board Meeting

The NC-SARA Board will meet May 8-9, 2019 at the Westin Hotel, Denver International Airport. The Board will begin its meeting with a working lunch at 11:30 a.m. on May 8 and will work through the afternoon to consider numerous agenda items. May 9 will be devoted to the Board’s selection of my successor as President/CEO of NC-SARA; those discussions will be held in executive/closed session.

 

New Versions of the SARA Manual, SARA Administrative Forms and Institutional Applications for Participation in SARA

SARA Manual, Version 19.1

 

NC-SARA has released Version 19.1 of the SARA Manual; it is available HERE.

 

Version 19.1 replaces all previous versions of the Manual and contains SARA policies as of March 21, 2019. Version 19.1 makes the following changes from the prior version of the Manual (Version 18.2):

On December 3-4, 2018 NC-SARA convened the Data Advisory Committee Meeting. This group of individuals reviewed the 2018 enrollment reporting, the voluntary out-of-state learning placement reporting, considered data reporting and collecting improvements, and helped refine protocols and definitions for the 2019 data guides.
