Angela Lee to Join NC-SARA Staff in March

NC-SARA is delighted to announce the addition of Angela Lee to our team. Angela has been hired as the Senior Director for State Partnerships and Engagement and will begin on March 11.

Since 2014, Angela Lee has served as Executive Director for the District of Columbia Higher Education Licensure Commission. In that role she led the team responsible for regulating colleges, universities, and trade and professional institutions operating in Washington, D.C., and served as the director of the State Portal Entity responsible for managing the District’s participation in SARA. She also served as the director of the state approving agency for veterans education benefits. 

Angela joined the NC-SARA Board in 2020 and served as the inaugural chair of the board’s Policy Committee. She was also elected chair of the Southern Regional Education Board (SREB) SARA Regional Steering Committee for two consecutive terms and has been engaged in the work of the SARA Interregional Steering Committee.

Prior to joining the Higher Education Licensure Commission, Angela worked in the Office of Resident Services at the DC Housing Authority (2001-2014) where she supported community and capacity building for individuals and families residing in public and assisted housing. 

Angela earned her Bachelor of Social Work from Temple University and a Master of Social Work from Howard University.
